An amazing building and grounds that are home to an ever changing art collection.

The Modern Art Gallery in the Dean area of Edinburgh is favourite for many art lovers and anyone looking for an interesting time. The building itself and the gardens do so much to make this a complete experience. The range of work on exhibition here is internationally respected by some of the worlds best known artists including Scottish artists. As well as the national galleries own stock there are special exhibitions and pieces on loan. The pieces on show range from early twentieth century European art through to some lively modern British art. Work from artists includes Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, Hirst and most recently an Anthony Gormley which you could be forgiven for falling over.
Central to the gallery gardens is the landscaped water feature Landform by Charles Jenks that is as much a feat of landscape design as it is engineering. Having seen the massive and once very muddy undertaking it never fails to amaze. There are many other art works on display in the gardens as well as a recognisable piece by Henry Moore.
The shop has a good range of things to buy from exhibition post cards, mugs, bags, books, and hand made jewellery. The cafe downstairs offers good wholesome food at good prices, good cakes, tea, canned and bottled drinks (tap water is free).
