Thomsons bar

A beautiful bar in Edinburgh that serves a pie and a pint in traditional style.

Thomson’s Bar is situated on Morrison Street, central Edinburgh and has an old yet striking front and entrance; from the outside you can see the ball light fixtures and the detailed ceiling and cornice. Get through the solid wood door and you enter one of the best proper pubs you are likely to find anywhere. The bar is based on designs of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson and has ornate wood carvings on the bar front, shelving, and throughout.

With a reputation for serving good beer you will find at least ten good ales on tap, if you are after a hearty meal (weekday lunch time) then the pies on offer are big, tasty and come with beans and gravy or mash and peas (under£5). Thomson’s also serve a great range of single malt whiskies and fine wines.
