Large range of beers, good food and very well preserved fixtures and fittings, a smart proper pub in the East End.
Located at the east end of Princes Street this is a comfy old style pub with a few twists. Possibly the largest range of beers and largers on offer in Edinburgh and strangly one of the few pubs in Edinburgh that still has heavily patterned carpet.
The clientel range from city workers, city visitors and some passing locals which all adds to a good atmosphere. The windows are old and decorated. The ceiling are and cornice are very ornate and well preserved, in fact the grandest cornice we have ever seen.
Front area is more pub with a range of sit down or stand up seating as well as space at the bar. The back part offers tables and seating with modern thistle wall paper which leads on to the restaurant area. Well worth a peek and a pint.
